History

Former COO of Tabs. I built its creator program to 100M monthly social impressions, and the paid ad engine alongside it. The numbers below come from videos that program produced.

Same playbook as at Tabs: a small roster, one number to protect, losers killed early. The category is new: Outdoor & Camping, from MAX SHOWER to ZERO LANTERN. I have not run this category, so the first weeks are also for learning what outdoor viewers respond to.

Why now

  • 1100

    Reviews on one FlexTail page

One page displays 4.9 / 1100 reviews. The proof is written. Creators can add what text can't: the product working outdoors.

    Published
  • 675

A second page with 675 reviews

Another page shows 4.9 / 675 reviews. Buyers already trust it. Short video can turn that trust into views.

    Published
  • 439

A third page with 439 reviews

A third page shows 4.9 / 439 reviews. Three high-review pages give creators plenty of real product to film.

Part 4 of 15

Principles

  1. One number to protect

Target cost per 1,000 views is $1. The simulator reads $5.74 today at 303 videos a month. Closing that gap is the whole job, and every brief points at it.

  2. Seven videos per creator per week

Volume feeds the hook library. Ten creators at seven a week make 303 videos a month, enough to find which opening lines carry a lantern or a shower.

  3. One variable per test, losers killed early

Each video changes only the opening line or only the first frame. Weak hooks are dropped at the Monday report, not defended.

  4. Base pay for work, bonus for reach

Creators are paid within their band's cap, up to $1,500 at the top. A video past 100,000 views earns $50 flat. Quality and reach are paid separately.

Briefs, drafts, reviews and the weekly numbers

Illustrative
  1. MarinaMon 8:30 AM

This week's hook: the first rinse after a dusty hike. Film MAX SHOWER in use, one take, and change only the opening line. Seven videos due by Sunday.

  2. CaioTue 10:15 AM

Can I say the shower works in heavy rain?

Stay on the sheet: waterproof level IPX7. Say that line as written and add nothing.

  3. Report botAppMon 9:00 AM

Weekly report posted: hooks that won, hooks killed, and cost per 1,000 views against the $1 target.

  4. MarinaWed 2:40 PM

Draft sent back. The ZERO LANTERN only shows up after ten seconds. Put it in the first frame and re-cut.

  5. CaioFri 6:05 PM

The TINY HELIO 600Z video passed 100,000 views overnight, all organic.

Logged. The $50 flat applies, once per creator per month.

  6. Check botAppThu 11:00 AM

Pre-post check: partnership label on, claim lines match the sheet, no health wording. Cleared to post.

The messages illustrate the working channel, with invented people: briefs go out on Monday, claims questions get an answer the same day, and nothing posts without the check.

Part 5 of 15

Formats

  1. Dark-camp lantern test

    Brief 01

    Dark-camp lantern test

“Fifty-six grams. That's the whole light.”

Dark camp, one take: ZERO LANTERN off, then on. Show it as a lantern and as a flashlight, hand-held, no cuts.

  2. Dusk repeller timer

    Brief 02

    Dusk repeller timer

“Outdoor mode runs twelve hours. Camping mode, nineteen.”

Dusk on a picnic table beside MAX REPELLER S. Show both modes on the switch. No claims about insects.

  3. Tent-floor sleep check

    Brief 03

    Tent-floor sleep check

“Inflate, lie down, five R-value. Let me show you.”

Overhead shot inside the tent: unroll, inflate, lie down. Put the 196cm length on screen as text.

  4. Trail headlamp POV

    Brief 04

    Trail headlamp POV

“Six hundred lumens in two point one ounces.”

Head-height POV on a trail at dusk: switch on TINY HELIO 600Z, pan the path, end with the headlamp in frame.

  5. Dust-off demo

    Brief 05

    Dust-off demo

“Fingertip control. Watch what 300g of blowing force does.”

Close-up: blow dust off boots and a tent floor with MAX BLAST 300, dial in frame. Claim nothing beyond the spec line.

Every product line in a video comes off the claims sheet word for word, for example “Waterproof Level: IPX7”, “Weight: 85g (±3g) | ≈ 3.00 oz (±0.11 oz)”, “A High-Performance Lightweight Headlamp with only 2.1 oz and 600 Lumens”. Product names are said as printed.

Part 6 of 15

Recruiting

Four sources in

  • Hiking and backpacking creators

Trail and ultralight accounts that already film pack contents. TINY HELIO 600Z and ZERO POWER 5,000C fit their gear videos with no stretch.

  • Camp and van-life creators

Creators who film camp setups and morning routines. MAX SHOWER, ZERO LANTERN and MAX REPELLER S belong in those scenes.

  • Gear-review and UGC creators

People who already shoot honest short product tests. They can run the one-variable format from day one.

  • Affiliate or ambassador page

I did not find an affiliate or ambassador page on the site. Creators would come from direct outreach, not an existing program.

Five filters, fewer each step

  1. 1Own outdoor footage

Real trail, camp or van footage in the last posts. No stock, no studio-only feeds.

  2. 2Audio you can hear

Voice clear over wind and water. Hooks are spoken, so sound is not optional.

  3. 3Reads a spec line

Can say a rating or weight exactly as written, without improving it.

  4. 4Posts every week

Seven videos a week is the pace. A history of steady posting comes first.

  5. 5Clean on disclosure

Already labels paid work. Anyone who hides sponsorship is out.

Part 7 of 15

Who

  • Thru-hiker

Counts every ounce and films gear lists. Night trail shots suit a headlamp test.

    Likely product: TINY HELIO 600Z

  • Ultralight backpacker

Cares about weight and thinness in the pack. A power bank in the pocket is their kind of video.

    Likely product: ZERO POWER 5,000C

  • Weekend camper

Films evenings at the campsite. Dusk and mosquitoes are part of the story.

    Likely product: MAX REPELLER S

  • Van-life creator

Shoots daily routines on the road, including the wash-up after a hike.

    Likely product: MAX SHOWER

  • Side-sleeper camper

Sleep comfort is the content. Tent-floor reviews are their native format.

Likely product: TINY SLEEPING PAD R05 LARGE

  • Travel-pack organizer

Packing videos are their niche, so compression is the whole demo.

    Likely product: NANO BAG SET

Left off, every time

Always left out: creators who make medical or health promises, accounts without their own footage, anyone unwilling to use the paid-partnership label, and anyone who names rival brands. Category rule: no promises about insects, disease or children beyond the product page.

Never said

Each one with the reason it stays out.

  • Keeps every mosquito away

An absolute the site never makes.

  • Protects you from insect-borne disease

A health outcome. Only the brand's own wording is allowed.

  • Works in any storm

The page gives a waterproof level, nothing broader.

  • Runs all night on any setting

Run time changes with the mode. Quote the mode and hours.

  • Better than other brands' pumps and lights

Comparisons are not on the sheet and invite disputes.

  • Helps you sleep better

A health-style benefit the product pages do not state.

To confirm with the brand

Held until someone on the brand side signs off.

  • Mint Green has a minty botanical scent and lasts up to 3 hours, making it safe for mothers and babies.

Child-safety wording. Say nothing until the brand confirms it for creator use.

  • Free standard shipping with orders over $39

Threshold differs across pages. Confirm which market applies before anyone mentions it.

Part 10 of 15

Pay

  • Starter

    $300–600

    a month, by band

Starter: new to gear content, short tests, and steady volume matters most.

    Bonus at the cap: $300

  • Standard

    $500–1,000

    a month, by band

Standard: proven outdoor audience and clean hooks, ready to carry a weekly slot.

    Bonus at the cap: $500

  • Premium

    $800–1,500

    a month, by band

Premium: strongest footage and reach, trusted with the product demos that matter most.

    Bonus at the cap: $700

  1. Under 100,000 views

    $0

The base pay covers the work.

  2. 100,000 views

    +$50 flat

    Whatever the band.

  3. 1,000,000 views

    Top-up to your cap

Bonus = band cap − base pay.

  • One reach bonus per creator per month, however many videos pass 100,000 views.
  • The $50 flat is earned by a single video that passes 100,000 views.
  • Only organic views count toward the 100,000. Paid boosts do not.
  • No bonus on a video that broke the claims sheet or the category rule.

Starter: $600 cap − $300 fee = $300 bonus; Standard: $1,000 cap − $500 fee = $500 bonus; Premium: $1,500 cap − $800 fee = $700 bonus.

The bonus pays for reach after the work is done, never instead of it. One bonus per creator per calendar month keeps it an incentive and keeps the program cost predictable.

Part 11 of 15

Simulator

At ten creators and 303 videos a month, cost is $5.74 per 1,000 views against the $1.00 target. It closes if 4.2% of videos go viral or the median video reaches 21,711 views.

Above the $1 target at these inputs.

To hit $1, the roster needs about 10.1M views a month. That means about 4.2% of videos going viral, or a median near 22K views per video. That is why the day-90 gate exists: keep the accounts that clear it, replace the rest.

Proposed, not measured. Views = videos × median, breakouts at 10× the median, viral at 750K. Bonus: +$50 for a viral video, one per creator per month.

The math. Videos a month = 10 creators × 7 a week × 52 ÷ 12 = 303. Views per video = (1 − 4% − 0.5%) × 1,500 + 4% × 10 × 1,500 + 0.5% × 750,000 = 5,782.5; 303 videos × 5,782.5 = 1.8M views a month. Cost = 10 × $1,000 = $10,000 base + 1 bonus × $50 = $10,050. Cost per 1,000 views = $10,050 ÷ 1.8M × 1,000 = $5.74 against a $1.00 target. To hit the target, either 4.2% of videos go viral or the median video reaches 21,711 views, other inputs held.

Move the sliders and the label recalculates. The result is only as good as the guesses behind it, so the median views, the share of breakouts and the share of viral videos are marked as Assumptions until the first month of posts replaces them.

Exit

From organic to paid

  1. Post organic

Every video goes live on the creator's own account with the paid-partnership label and a cleared claims check.

  2. Read the Monday report

Videos that beat the cost target on organic views are marked as candidates. Weak ones stay organic or are dropped.

  3. Secure ad rights

Before any video becomes an ad, the creator agrees in writing to paid use of that specific video.

  4. Test one variable

The video runs as an ad with a single change, such as the opening line. The result decides whether it scales.

From the video to the checkout

  • Send the headlamp video to the TINY HELIO 600Z page, where the review count is visible.
  • Send the shower video to the MAX SHOWER page, which shows the strikethrough price.
  • Mention free shipping only where the page shows it, and confirm the market first.
  • Mention the subscribe offer of 8%~12% OFF only after the brand confirms it applies.
  • Keep creators on product pages, never on a general homepage, so the video and the shelf match.

Part 15 of 15

Category rules

Outdoor gear rules

Outdoor gear is judged on specs, so creators quote them exactly and promise nothing beyond them.

  • Specs read as written

Weights, ratings and run times are quoted exactly as the product page writes them. No rounding up and no improving a number.

  • Water ratings stay literal

MAX SHOWER carries an IPX7 level. Creators say that line and do not extend it to storms, submersion or other products.

  • No insect or disease promises

For the repellers, show the modes and hours from the sheet. Never promise results against insects or illness.

  • Heat and batteries are shown, not advised

Show the device in use as intended. No advice on leaving heated or charging gear near tents or sleeping bags.

  • Nothing about children or babies

Child-safety wording stays out until the brand confirms it. No videos that position gear as safe for kids on creator authority.

  • Disclose and stay inside the caps

Every post carries the paid-partnership label. Pay stays within the band caps, up to $1,500 at the top, plus the $50 reach bonus.

The brand’s legal team sets the final rules. This is the operating floor I’d start from, not legal advice.
